How Can God Let That Happen?

Let me begin by saying that as I wrote this I realized that it is a very sensitive subject! And it is hard to explain how I feel about it. Having said that I am going to go ahead and try my best to state my thoughts. I know others may disagree, maybe some will agree. All I ask is that if you choose to leave a comment, let’s talk about it….not argue.  I am OK with other opinions and I am mature enough to talk to anyone about their views, even if they are not mine.

“Life lives, life dies, life laughs, life cries. Life gives up and life tries. But life looks different through everyone’s eyes.”

I can remember thinking “Why did she have to die?” when my best friends mother died. I was only 5 at the time, but I can remember how it really weighed heavily on me and I also remember that nobody could answer my question.

Over the years I have  formed my own ideas about that question and I have an answer, it may not be a good answer for others, but for me, it is good and it finally allows me to stop asking the question.

God does not cause bad things to happen to good people.  What I have come to accept is that all people, all souls, are born with the same divine love that is God, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27   If we are created in the image of God then we are created with the same love that He has.  At the time of our birth we are capable of pure love.  You see it all of the time in children. At our birth is probably the closest we will ever come to being perfect! *SMILE*  We may not be perfect but we have that spark of divine love that God IS…..He says so.

But here is the problem……as we grow up, and become of this world, we get away from God, we develop an EGO and we become disconnected from that Divine love. If we were not perfect when we were born….. we are even less so as we get older.  When we become disconnected from that Love we do not see things as we once did.  We lose that child like quality of innocence and love. Things become clouded, we have stresses and anxieties, we have fears. Fear is not borne out of love and if it is not of love then it is not of God who is LOVE.  And this is the reason, I feel, that people make choices that are not of God, not of Love and therefore hurt others.   It is not God making those choices it is us making those choices. The choices to hurt others.

Why doesn’t God stop us? I guess it comes down to Free Will…..which is something that I am going to have to do some research on. I do not want to write anything  that I cannot back up with scripture so I need to go get one on Free Will….I do not have one readily available.

So it is not God that is doing anything to anyone…it is US; us humans, we that get so far away from God that we can’t even see the bad choices we are making.  Or if we do see them, we do not care.

I also know that everything happens in God’s time. Everything happens exactly as it should and one day we will ALL know the answers to the specific whys and how’s. In the meantime, knowing that when we become separated from God we may make poor choices is what will keep me striving to stay connected and to share my thoughts with others.

Of course, this is only my opinion.  I know we all passionately believe in what we believe.  We can disagree, that is OK.  We do not have to argue about it or be mad about it. That is what makes the world go round….differences! I am OK with that, I hope you are too!

And if we do talk about it, it is also OK for us to still disagree! It is OK!

Unconditional Love or Divine Love?

I was watching Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday today, I had last Sunday’s on the DVR. Her guest was Dr. Wayne Dyer, whom I LOVE tremendously! I would be willing to go on record that Wayne Dyer has been most instrumental in the transformation that has occurred in my life over the last 5 years! WOW……5 years? I had not realized so much time had passed. Anyway, so yes, Wayne Dyer was the guest!

He was talking about his newest book, Wishes Fulfilled, yes I have it and am reading it. As I was watching Wayne and Oprah talking the stuff of spirituality he started speaking of Divine Love. It got me to remembering when I spoke to a friend and really not just one friend but multiple friends/people over the years about “unconditional love”; for me the true desire in my journey  has been to find unconditional love. As such I have had many opportunities to speak to people about  their views on unconditional love.

It may come as no surprise that most people, like 99.9% of the people I spoke to thought it was an unattainable emotion, something you only see in a fairytale.  I may have thought that at one time, I don’t know, but what I do know is that I do not believe that now, I do believe in unconditional love and have many examples of it.

Beginning and ending with the most obvious:a mothers love. How can anyone say it does not exist when there is Mothers Love to look to for proof? A mother can and will love her child through it all! ** I do realize there are some people who CHOOSE to not have that type of love for their children…..I am not referring to those people in this post. And I know that people will say that a parents love is conditional, but think about it……..we may have conditions, but most mothers continue to love regardless of whether the child meets the expectations or not. And a child’s love for the parent is the same……

OK, so yes, I believe in and seek Unconditional love! I feel a very deep spiritual connection to God when I seek out unconditional love! Anytime I start a conversation about it or listen to someone else talk about it, or I read about it…whatever, I always get a deeper spiritual feeling.

So this is where I was in my life at the moment that I heard Wayne Dyer talking about Divine Love and it was like a light bulb went off! That is why I always feel a deeper connection…it is not simply unconditional love that I seek it is Divine Love!

So what is the difference really?

For me…here is the difference:

Unconditional love is something that we try to have for others on a case by case, or relationship by relationship basis. It is beautiful when we can achieve it! But most people do not aspire to live their entire life walking around with Unconditional Love!

Divine Love is something we aspire to have for ALL mankind and ALL Gods creation at ALL times. 24/7.   It is Divine love….love like God has……Divine!

For me it is that simple….is it that way for others? I really do not know.  I’m pretty sure I will find out!  🙂
