NO!! It Is Not Over! As The Tooth Turns……One More Episode!

When last we saw Christine she was in love with her dentist and enjoying the road to recovery after having the offending tooth removed…..”good riddance” she said!  But…what is this? What has happened to put a dark cloud over Christine’s celebration?
Cue dramatic background music.…… Enter….DRY SOCKET! DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAA! <——- dramatic music!

Ok, enough playing! Do not feel bad for me because, as I write this, I feel so much better! But, when I was writing the last installment, of what I am sure is a very interesting ongoing saga, the pain started to worsen! What, I thought, could this be? Why is the pain in my jaw growing worse? Hmmmm I do not want Ibuprofen any longer I want the Vicodin! And guess what? After all that the Ibuprofen worked better! LOL  ** Remember that for future reference. Ibuprofen not Vicodin!

Yes, I went to the Dentist, where I found him to be as lovely as ever, and he confirmed that there was a bit of debris in the socket ( not entirely bad because there was still some clot left so it was somewhat stable.) So we decided; no anesthetic packing!  Then he discovered that there was a bit of an infection starting in again. You will remember that the offending tooth originally had an awful infection from the fracture in the tooth. Well, apparently removing the tooth was not enough. He gave me a prescription for antibiotic, but seeing as this would be round 3 of antibiotics in 4 weeks I asked if I could wait a few days to start. See if I could fight it myself! He said yes because he is awesome!

So here I am waiting for the infection to go away, in moderate pain, but taking my Ibuprofen. It is OK.  It could be worse! And guess what??

I am so grateful for how things are and for the beautiful day and for my awesome dentist!!

Thank you!

Peace and Love~ Christine

As The Tooth Turns….the final chapter. Or Is It?

When last we saw Christine she was still in pain and awaiting a dental appointment to extract the offending tooth! Did she have the tooth extracted?  Is she now pain-free? Does she still love her dentist?? Let us rejoin Christine now, as we continue with another episode of ….As The Tooth Turns!

Alright folks, here it is! The final chapter in the saga that I am lovingly calling As The Tooth Turns!

So, I went to the dentist on Monday at my appointed time, having taken a little tiny pill before hand, and then once there they gave me 2 more pills crushed up and put under my tongue.  Better to get to the blood and make me loopy!  I really did not feel anything! I thought other than being a little tired, I was good to go! I was hoping that when he gave me the Nitrous Oxide it would take me over the edge, where I needed to be,  to let this kind man take a look ( and more) at my tooth!

Well, I think I was a little more out of it than I knew. Imagine! HA!  All I can say is he did the work, I remember it, kind of. But what I do not remember is any pain! I remember him propping my mouth open ( boy does it hurt today!!) and I remember him cleaning my teeth, filling my back molar, very small cavity, and then “wiggling” my 1st molar out! Wiggle…wiggle…wiggle!! That is all I remember…a lot of wiggling! But no pain!

Best experience I have ever had at the dentist. So YES..I still love my new dentist!

And so ends this episode of “As The Tooth Turns” !  And hopefully the end of my dental problems!

At least for a while!  A long while!

Peace and Love~ Christine

As The Tooth Turns…The Saga Continues!

OK. So as you can tell from the picture I am still in pain and having issues with my tooth! OH…wait, sorry!

When last we saw Christine she was struggling with weeks of tooth pain and wallet pain! She did not know where to turn to get good dental care at a reasonable price! She felt alone and…in pain!

OK. So I went to get a second opinion from, what turned out to be an awesome dentist! I just went to the dentist yesterday and as soon as I walked in I felt pretty good! The surroundings and people at least were proving to be very relaxing. So far so good!

Dr. Michael Spees introduced himself to me and checked out my x-rays. As it turned out my insurance would pay for a full complete set of x-rays, and since I had not had that done in a while, they took a complete set. Dr. Spees checks out the x-ray and sits down to chat with me.

When I wrote last I told you that the dentist wanted me to have 2 root canals! I had been on antibiotics for 4 weeks. My mouth on the right side was so swollen I could barely talk.

Long story short…..1’m not having any root canals! Woohoo!  He said the tooth on the left looked perfectly healthy! He did not see why I would need a root canal and the tooth on the right had such a bad fracture that he could try to save the tooth, no guarantee, but he could try. He warned me that if he was able to save it I would probably always have problems with it due to bacteria getting up there because of the fracture. OK.  So what do you think I opted to do?

Yup! Extraction! Now the other dentist told me that I would not want to extract the first molar because it is vital to chewing. This dentist told me that the first molar is the tooth that mostly gets extracted due to the fact that it is the first molar therefore you have had it the longest and it gets decay more often than the rest. Quicker anyway!

So he finishes the exam and says that when I come back (because I am using sedation) he will clean my teeth, pull the tooth and look at my lower wisdom tooth because it may have a little decay and if so he will fill that. I have no cavities ( other than the possible little bit on the wisdom tooth) ! Woohoo! Yay for that!

Am I happy? You can say that! Yeah, I am ecstatic! And I love Dr. Spees!

I will let you know how it turns out. My appointment is on the 20th!
